Decomposed body of guest found in hotel room

first_imgThe partially decomposed body of a male occupant of one of the rooms at the Safari Inn Hotel at Friendship, East Bank Demerara was found in the room on Monday evening. The corpse has been identified as that of Phillip Crawford, who had been a long-term occupant of the establishment.Based on reports received, proprietress of the hotel, Jagmoorah Correira, also called Yvonne, told investigators she detected a strange stench emanating from the room occupied by Crawford, and immediately contacted the Police.When the Police arrived at the location, the door to the room was broken to gain access, and the lawmen were confronted with a heavy stench and Crawford’s body lying on the floor next to the bed.There was no sign that a struggle had taken place in the room, and there were no visible marks of violence about Crawford’s body.Guyana Times was told that the man, who had suffered from a mental illness and diabetes, had been a guest at the hotel for the past several weeks. He had last been seen a few days ago, when he went to purchase his medication.The body has been removed to the Lyken’s Funeral Home. It is scheduled to undergo a post-mortem today to determine the cause of Crawford’s death.last_img
