Stephanie Schwartz Named October Bowler of the Month

first_imgLeague StatisticsFRISCO, Texas – Stephen F. Austin standout senior Stephanie Schwartz is the Southland Bowling League Bowler of the Month for October, the league announced Monday. Southland monthly awards are presented by October 2017 Bowler of the Month – Stephanie Schwartz, Stephen F. Austin – Sr. – Racine, Wis.The three-time First Team NTCA All-American got off to a strong start this season, posting a top individual finish at the Sugar Bowl Invite in Kenner, La. Schwartz was the top bowler in the three-day event, averaging a 245.6 score in the five traditional games Saturday for a pin total of 1,228 en route to earning MVP distinction. In the Ladyjacks’ competition at the Bearcat Open, she finished the tournament as SFA’s top bowler, placing 14th among 177 total bowlers with a 203.20 game average. SFA competed in Sam Houston State’s Track Kat Klash to kick off November last weekend and next heads north to Schwartz’s home state for the Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawk Classic in Kenosha, Wis., from Nov. 10-12 to cap the fall season. Honorable Mention: Kaitlyn Eder, Louisiana Tech; Stephanie Zavala, Sam Houston State.Southland Bowlers of the Month are voted upon by the league’s sports information directors. Voting for one’s own bowler is not permitted. To receive honorable mention, a player must appear on 25 percent of ballots. Schwartz led the nationally ranked No. 6 Ladyjacks in both of their opening competitions of the 2017-18 season, earning MVP honors at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Invitational and pacing the team to a fourth-place finish out of 23 teams at the McKendree Bearcat Open.last_img
