RCB vs KKR: Bangalore’s batting woes continue as ‘Big Three’ fail again

first_imgRoyal Challengers Bangalore’s bad season continues. Even their lucky ‘Green Jersey’ couldn’t bring them any luck today as the ‘Big Three’ failed to deliver yet again as Bangalore stare down the barrel against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the M Chinnaswamy stadium.Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers’ bad run continued as they all fell one after the other with the scores on 34/3 after 3.4 overs batting first. While Gayle fell on the first ball of the day, after handing an easy catch to Gautam Gambhir at short extra-cover, thanks to a leading edge off the bowling of Umesh Yadav. Kohli was soon trapped in-front by Umesh with a brilliant slower ball and de Villiers followed suit as he missed a Sunil Naire offie, that crashed onto his stumps after hitting a boundary off the previous ball. The trio, who were instrumental in taking RCB to the finals of the IPL last year, has failed miserably this year and it’s reflecting on Bangalore’s results as they languish at the bottom of the table. This year Kohli (250 runs), de Villiers (216 runs) and Gayle (152 runs) have scored just 618 runs so far compared to their tally of  1,887 runs last year.Although Gayle failed to fire last term as well, managing to score just 227 runs, Kohli had a sensational season, scoring a record 973 runs, including four hundreds while de Villiers hammered 687 runs, hitting one ton. Kohli had an average of 81.08 while de Villers averaged 52.84.However, this year all of them looked out of sorts right from the beginning, resulting in a torrid season for RCB thus far, as they have only managed to grab five points from 12 games.advertisementlast_img read more
